Cape Coral was founded in 1957 by Jack and Leonhard Rosen (developers). These brothers purchased the land for $678.000.  With 114 square miles Cape Coral is the second largest City in terms of land mass in Florida. With more than 400 miles of salt and fresh water canals Cape Coral is called the Venice of America.
 
Cape Coral also offers a high quality of life due to its low crime rate (2nd in Florida), outstanding climate, excellent health service, affordable housing, education facilities, parks and recreation.  Cape Coral is Lee County biggest and fastest growing city . The population of Cape Coral has doubled every decade since the city was incorporated in 1970. Since 1970 the population has increased 600%.

The community of Gulf Cove is located to the north of State Road 776, east of Englewood and south of Riverwood.  The Myakka River forms its west border and the Myakka State Forest is to its east.  Gulf Cove residents have quick access to beautiful Gulf of Mexico beaches in nearby Englewood and Boca Grande.

Canal front properties are in high demand.  For boaters interested in this community, the canals open into the Myakka River, which feeds into Charlotte Harbor and to the Gulf of Mexico.  To reach Charlotte Harbor, boaters must pass under the "fixed" El Jobean bridge.  Gulf Cove property owners who are members of the Home Owners Association have access to a community boat ramp that provides a protected launching area just off the river.

Rotonda

Rotonda is built in a circle.  Within the circle there are seven distinct communities:  Oakland Hills, Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, Broadmoor, Long Meadow, White Marsh and Pine Valley.

The Rotonda West Homeowners Association enforces deed restrictions within these communities.  Many of the properties inside the circle open onto the network of fresh water canals within the community or onto one of the community golf courses. Rotonda has five golf courses:  Rotonda Hills, Rotonda Palms, Long Marsh, Pinemoor and the Links at Cape Haze.

Outside the circle are the communities of Rotonda Heights, Rotonda Lakes, Rotonda Shores, Rotonda Sands, Rotonda Springs, Rotonda Villas and Rotonda Meadows.  These neighborhoods are also dotted with lakes and fresh water canals.

Tropical Gulf Acres
